Welcome to the official logo contest entries archive for the Graphic Designer group at Google Groups...
The Graphic Designer group's home is actually at Google (http://groups.google.com/group/graphicdesigner). It is a Google Group intended to promote, support and advance professional graphic design in all areas.
Members post to the group list to discuss and share almost any subject related to graphic design. Quite simply, this group is intended for anyone seriously interested in professional web design to share techniques or ask questions, for critiques or other feedback, and for overcoming the solitary role of the freelance graphic designer by adding a sort of e-community with which to share in the absence of a corporate business structure.
However, as graphic designers, logo developers, freelancers, entrepreneurs, small businesses, corporate officers and/or business men, we are also sick of spam. Spam is intended to distract employees and slow down businesses. Spam is a criminal act against any and all businesses. If effectively and efficiently slows or cripples freelancing, entrepreneurs and small businesses the most. Therefore, this group is intended to be spam free. Spammers are immediately banned from the group. Note that any affiliate link is also considered spam. Affiliates only push traffic to a market for a price, they do not support the product/service and have no investment in your purchase. Posting an affiliate link is posting spam and will be dealt with as such.
The Graphic Designer group also requires a certain degree of professionalism in our group communications. All members must practice good netiquette with each post. Without this requirement we will have flames and the chaos which ensues. Respect for each other, as well as each other's opinions is mandatory. We don't just have professional membership, but students, teachers and businessmen building their own site for the very first time, as well.
This is the start of our little community website. It is plain and raw because we are only just now voting on a logo. Eventually, we may decide to design and develop a sort of graphic designer's information and resources website. But first we need to select a logo.
This page is specifically intended to showcase and archive the Graphic Designer group logo contest entries. The contest is now over and the winning logo has been chosen, it was logo candidate #10 (see below). Logo voting has been over for a long time, no new entries or votes will be accepted, this page is meant to document all candidates, as well as the contest itself.

The winning Graphic Designer group logo
Archive Notes:
- Note that Logo Candidate 1 was eliminated due to the fact that it was almost exactly the same as Logo Candidate 2. Such minute changes can be implemented to the final image after voting on an image concept.
- Logo images are presented as logo concepts, or roughs.
- By entering this logo contest, the designer signed over all copyrights to the logo design. Any designer not willing to sign over his/her copyrights on any particular logo could withdraw their entry by April 7th, 2007, at midnight, by posting such intentions to the group at http://groups.google.com/group/graphicdesigner. Note trhat no entries were withdrawn.
- The winning logo designer must provide the winning logo's original master image files in their native format (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc., master image files with fonts and layers intact), so that the group and administrators may tweak the logo, as deemed appropriate. If the winning graphic designer fails to provide the original master image files, that entry will be disqualified and the next runner-up logo will be the new winning logo. In the event this happens, this rule still pertains to the new winning logo. This was provided by the logo winner,
- Each logo entry remains the copyright of the Graphic Designer group to archive, display and use the entry as its own. Members may prefer to use their favorite logos as opposed to using the winning logo to promote the group. This is perfectly acceptable.
- The winning logo becomes the official Trademark for the Graphic Designer group. The winning designer does not have to accept the prize package offered in order for this to take place, entry into this logo contest did this.
- The winning logo may be modified or enhanced as required by the administrators.
- The winning logo designer is encouraged to use the winning logo in his/her portfolio.
- This contest ended at midnight Google time on April 14th, 2007.
- Each member may vote for as many logos as he/she wants, but must vote only once in the group's official voting thread. Simply vote for your favorite logo candidates by number. Each vote for each favorite will count as a positive vote, or recomendation, on each logo voted for. All positive votes will be calculated from the official Logo Voting thread, only.
- The logo concepts here are presented in various sizes (that are appropriate for web media) simply to illustrate and communicate how effectively a logo image will reduce. However, some sizes, such as the Google Groups icon sized images, are pathetically small. Yet, since the administration has no master image files, no images presented have been sharpened or otherwise enhanced, as any graphic designer would do to distinguish different sizes and applications for a final logo.
- Remember that we did not voting on an icon, we are voting on a logo.
